At the YMCA of the Sandhills, we believe staying healthy, connected and active doesn't stop with age--it gets better. Our Active Older Adults (AOA) programs are designed to support your whole self: body, mind and spirit. Aging adults and seniors find a strong sense of belonging and a network of friends that supports sustained health and well-being!

From fitness classes tailored to all ability levels, to water workouts that are easy on the joints, the Y provides opportunities for aging adults to keep moving and strong with confidence. Just as important, the Y offers ways to connect, whether that's enjoying coffee with friends after class, getting together for lunch or learning a new skill. Most programs are free for seniors.

AOA Events

MYRTLE BEACH SHOW TRIP WITH THE Y!

The Y invites active older adults to hit the road and head to the beach May 5-7, 2026, for our Myrtle Beach Show Trip! Active older adults from both the Fayetteville YMCA and the Saleeby Family YMCA are invited, along with friends in the community who do not belong to the Y. Come one, come all for this trip packed with music, shows, shopping, dining and fun!

Highlights include:

  • Two evening shows: Legends in Concert and Music and Memories at the Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre
  • Disco Fever at the Broadway Theater
  • Motown '59 at the Asher Theatre 
  • Shopping and Dining at Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach

How and When:

  • Space is is limited and reservations are first-come, first-served.
  • $425 per person, double occupancy ($520 per person for single occupancy) 
  • $75 deposit holds your spot; full balance must be paid before February 26
  • Check payable to Diamond Tours, drop it in Karen Utley's box at the Fayetteville Y or with the Welcome Center staff at Saleeby Family YMCA
  • Includes motorcoach transportation from Fayetteville, 2 nights lodging in the Myrtle Beach area, two breakfasts and two dinners, plus all the shows
